In 2022, there were over 5.9 million traffic crashes in the United States, resulting in 42,514 deaths and 2,382,771 injuries. The total cost of these crashes was over $470 billion. Download the full report from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

In 2023, there were an estimated 40,990 roadway deaths, a 3.6% decrease from 2022. This marked one of the biggest decreases in roadway fatalities in over a decade, following the biggest increase in roadway deaths since 2005 which occurred in 2021.
