MEET THE AUTHOR, RICK
Rick Silverman, our CEO, has been a leader in the SR22 insurance industry for decades. He began his career as a young agent, combining his BA in Psychology with a passion for helping people. In 1981, Rick acquired his first agency, A-1 Insurance Agency, and quickly became Ohio’s premier Drivers License Suspension Specialist.
With Rick’s vision and support, LONO PROGRAMMERS developed the first practical comparative rating software for high-risk drivers—laying the groundwork for today’s advanced insurance marketplace. Rick’s commitment to improving driver education led him to help establish the Shaker Heights Municipal Court Remedial Driving Course, where he served for many years as an instructor and consultant.
Under Rick’s leadership, A-1 Insurance Agency grew into one of the largest non-standard insurance providers in Ohio. The agency was later acquired by Permanent General Insurance Company, which used A-1 as a direct sales platform to launch “A-1 General,” now widely recognized as “The General.”
Today, Rick continues to leverage his expertise and dedication to provide the best solutions for high-risk drivers, making a lasting impact on the industry and the lives of those he serves.
Rick lives in Northeast Ohio with his wife, Laurie, their dog, Ryder, and their cats, Beau and Rusty. Outside of work, he enjoys music, photography, stunt kite-flying on the beach and relaxing on Lake Erie.
