Is this insurance or a bond?

SR22/FR Bond: Covers the individual driver, not a specific vehicle. It provides Ohio’s minimum liability coverage ($25,000/$50,000/$25,000) for any 4-wheel private passenger car used for personal driving, whether you own it or not. It’s a standalone product — no other insurance needed to meet Ohio’s financial responsibility laws.

What it does NOT cover:

  • Damage to the car you’re driving
  • Your own injuries or your passengers’ injuries
  • Other drivers using your vehicle

So if someone owns a vehicle and wants full coverage (comprehensive/collision), they’d need a separate auto insurance policy on top of the bond. The bond is really designed as the minimum-cost path to satisfy the BMV’s SR22 requirement and get driving privileges reinstated.
