Leadership

Rick Silverman, CEO

Rick Silverman, CEO of SR22 OHIO, has been a leader in the SR-22 and non-standard auto insurance industry for decades. He began his career as a young insurance agent, combining his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a genuine passion for helping people through challenging situations.

In 1981, Rick acquired A-1 Insurance Agency, where he quickly earned a statewide reputation as Ohio’s premier Driver’s License Suspension Specialist. Under his leadership, the agency became known for its expertise in SR-22 filings, reinstatements, and high-risk driver solutions at a time when few agencies truly understood this niche.

Recognizing early on the need for better pricing transparency, Rick worked closely with LONO PROGRAMMERS to help develop the first practical comparative rating software designed specifically for high-risk drivers. This innovation laid the foundation for the modern comparative rating systems used throughout the insurance industry today.

Rick’s commitment to public safety and education extended beyond insurance. He helped establish the Shaker Heights Municipal Court Remedial Driving Course and served for many years as both an instructor and consultant, working directly with drivers to improve skills, accountability, and long-term outcomes.

Under Rick’s leadership, A-1 Agency grew into one of the largest non-standard insurance providers in Ohio. The agency was later acquired by Permanent General Insurance Company, which used A-1 as a direct sales platform to launch The General—now one of the most widely recognized names in non-standard auto insurance nationwide.

Today, Rick continues to apply decades of hands-on experience, industry insight, and consumer advocacy to SR22 OHIO. His leadership ensures that every client receives knowledgeable guidance, fair pricing, and respectful service—regardless of driving history.

Rick lives in Northeast Ohio with his wife, Laurie, dog Ryder, and cats Rusty and Beau. Outside of work, he enjoys music, photography, stunt kite flying, and spending time on Lake Erie.
